Andie Swimwear has grown tremendously in popularity in recent years. You’ve probably seen the brand on your social media feeds or heard it mentioned in conversations—especially in the summer. Personally, I’m getting more and more messages from friends and readers, all asking the same question: Is Andie Swim really worth it? That’s why this season I decided to finally dive in—literally—and put the swimsuits through their paces.
If you’re not familiar with Andie Swim, here’s a quick backstory: The brand was founded in 2017 by Melanie Travis, who was inspired to create it after a particularly frustrating swimsuit-shopping experience. As she explained in an interview with Marie Claire, she took a deep dive packing for a weekend trip and realized that none of her options felt right—both in terms of fit and confidence. This moment revealed a disconnect between how swimwear is marketed to women and how it actually feels when worn.
So she set out to design swimsuits that were not only flattering but also functional—pieces designed for real bodies, real activities, and real comfort. Andie’s core values are inclusivity and body confidence. They offer styles in sizes XS to 3XL, as well as regular and longline styles—a huge advantage for larger women or anyone who struggles with the fit of traditional swimwear.
Today, Andie Swim is celebrated for featuring a refreshingly diverse selection of models—of varying ages, ethnicities, and body types—and, from what I understand, is especially popular with moms looking for chic, wearable swimsuits that move with them.
So how do they perform in real life? I tried on three one-piece swimsuits and a bikini set—all popular styles, including some reader recommendations. Here’s my honest analysis.
Let’s start strong. The Amalfi is one of Andie’s absolute bestsellers, and I can immediately see why. I opted for the white ribbed fabric, and honestly, it’s one of the most comfortable swimsuits I’ve ever worn. The ribbed texture creates a luxurious, flattering feel. It feels soft, stretchy yet supportive, and smooths the silhouette beautifully.
The straps are fully adjustable, which is always a plus, and surprisingly, despite its white color, it was completely opaque (yes, I tested it over black underwear just to be safe). This swimsuit makes you feel confident, not self-conscious.
The only downside? The center back coverage was a bit too subtle for me personally. Unfortunately, the ribbed version doesn’t come in a cheekier version—but if you’re ready to switch to classic black, the Amalfi offers that bolder silhouette. If you’re looking for something a little more distinctive, the Fiji might be a better choice. It has a similar front, but with a plunging neckline and cheeky coverage. This gives it a more daring look without sacrificing the comfort of the Amalfi.
Next, I tested the Tulum – a sleek, athletic-inspired one-piece with a sporty, open back. It looked promising on the website and in the model photos: medium coverage and strong support. But on me? It just didn’t work.
The front was disappointing and didn’t particularly emphasize my figure. I suspect this style is more suited to women with larger busts, as it showed off well with fuller breasts. The back, on the other hand, was a real eye-catcher – playful, strappy, and a little bit flirty. For that reason alone, I wanted to love it.
Unfortunately, the straps were far too tight, digging into my back and creating unflattering lines. I tried a size larger, but the changes mainly affected my bust and bottom—there wasn’t enough support where I needed it most. It’s a beautiful piece, but it wasn’t quite right for my body type.
Still, I would recommend the Tulum to anyone looking for good support with moderate coverage, especially if you have a larger bust.
Let’s talk about a real winner: the Paloma. This one was recommended to me by a reader (thanks!) and I was totally won over. It has a cute, casual front that feels like a “girl next door,” but when you turn around, the back really heats up. Cheeky, adjustable, and subtly sexy without being over the top.
I tested it both dry (over black underwear) and completely soaked at the water park, and I can happily report: It stayed opaque the entire time. The fabric is thick, comfortable, yet breathable. Even after a full day of splashing around and lounging on the beach, the Paloma held up beautifully.
Plus points: This swimsuit also made me feel good about my mastectomy scar, which was showing through slightly. Andie’s thoughtful design leaves room for scars, curves, and real bodies. That’s important.
Last but not least, I tried Andie’s Valencia bikini—along with the high-waisted, ribbed bottoms. I’ve always loved a well-fitting bikini for beach days, and this set more than won me over.
The top won me over. It’s ribbed, structured, and offers just the right amount of support to feel secure without digging in. I kept it because it matched several other bottoms I already owned. The bottoms, however, didn’t win me over. While I liked the high waist and flattering leg cut, the fabric was so soft that it lacked structure. Personally, I prefer a little more support in my high-waisted swim bottoms—something that gently hugs the waist. These felt almost like lounge bottoms, not swimwear.
However, if you love a buttery-soft fit, this might actually be your dream bikini.
After testing Andie Swim in various styles and under real-life conditions, I can confidently say: Yes – it’s worth the hype. The attention to detail, the fabric quality, and the wide range of sizes make the brand a standout in the swimwear category.
The ribbed fabric, in particular, is a revelation – smooth, flattering, and opaque, even in white. Paloma and Amalfi were my personal favorites, combining timeless silhouettes with just the right amount of elegance and coverage.
Of course, there’s no one-size-fits-all. The Tulum’s fit issues and overly soft bikini bottoms are proof of that. But overall, the pros far outweighed the cons.
If you’re looking for swimwear that’s stylish, thoughtfully designed, and comfortable enough for everyday wear, Andie Swim deserves a place in your summer wardrobe. Whether you’re a one-piece like me or still rocking your bikini collection, Andie offers something for every style and body type – with confidence and comfort at its core.
Have you tried Andie Swim yet? I’d love to hear your thoughts and hear which styles you like. I already have my eye on some bold new styles for next season!
