Do you know how much parents love living vicariously through their children? Well, my wife and I are absolutely no different. When we were kids, we both wanted a trampoline. After seeing our daughter go crazy for it in gym class, we decided she needed one. “It was absolutely just for them and not for us at all,” he said sarcastically. So take a few minutes and read my review of the SpringFree trampoline.
As with almost everything I buy, the research began when my wife and I decided to purchase one for her. The reason my wife and I didn’t raise them is because our families often told us how dangerous they were. So I had three things that I really focused on. First, I wanted something very safe, second, I wanted something that wouldn’t be a big problem in our small yard, and third, I wanted it to last a long time with regular use and our beautiful Colorado weather.
However, during my search I came across a brand that I had never heard of: Springfree trampolines. I once did some digging and found out who made them and why I was sold. The main reason these trampolines exist…SAFETY! At some point, jump ahead and take a look at the company’s history.
Therefore, we don’t have a large garden in our current house, but with these Springfree trampolines and the way they are built, the footprint is smaller as there are no additional springs around the trampoline.
In the end we decided on the medium sized oval trampoline. As you can see from the photos above, it is large but not huge. Ok, ok…it’s called Springfree and it has these weird stems. How is it suitable for jumping?
So these rods are pretty great. As far as I can tell, they are hollow rods made from a carbon fiber-like structure. Jumping on this trampoline is fantastic. Listen, I’m a big guy and I can throw myself on this trampoline. One thing I noticed is that there seems to be a gentler compression on the descent. For someone who has had left knee issues in the past, I appreciate this. But let’s be honest, I’m not the target audience for this (at least not in my household). My daughter, who weighs over 30 pounds, loves it and can also do good jumps and hops.
I’ll start this section by saying that setup was difficult. The instructions were great and they use an app called BILT and it was pretty nice to have him available for instructions. Since then I have used it for a few other projects and product tutorials.
Why was it so difficult to set up? Well, they say it can be assembled by two DIY parents. This statement is true, but it was quite difficult at times. This trampoline needs tension (like all others), but with these bars it quickly becomes difficult to move and set up. I would say the total setup time was about three hours, I was able to do everything except attaching the poles without any help. It was very helpful to have an extra set of hands to provide leverage when attaching the poles.
So yes, you can ride it with two adults, but be prepared for some difficult sections but you can do it!
Honestly everything is fine. Family and friends enjoy the trampoline, we have had it outside since November 2020 and have seen the cold and hot weather in Colorado and it still looks like new.
The other thing, and I repeat, is that it is super safe. Here are some reasons why this trampoline is such a safe option.
The frame is below the jumping surface and therefore cannot be touched when jumping.
The springs have been replaced by flexible rods, which are also located under the jumping surface.
The high-quality housing is supported by flexible rods that cannot be touched by the driver.
Once your child sits on your Springfree trampoline, no part of the trampoline can harm them. But that doesn’t mean the child won’t get hurt.
So far there haven’t been many. Firstly, and I mentioned this before, the installation was a little more difficult than a traditional trampoline. The only other thing I would describe as “bad” is the cleaning. If we have a big storm or it’s only been a few weeks, the summit is covered in debris. Because the trampoline is so self-contained, it’s not as easy to remove dirt by simply running your hands up to the edge and letting it fall between the springs. I end up pulling out a hand broom.
The Springfree trampoline is not a quick $100 purchase on Craigslist. The price may seem high to many. I considered this high price to be a safe and well-made investment.
We are more than satisfied with the safety measures, the quality of workmanship and the space required by this trampoline. Every day, weather permitting, my daughter jumps.
Overall, I recommend you take a look if you are looking for a trampoline. They now offer customization options that I think I could have used a year ago if that had been an option.
You may be wondering, but wait… “How’s this daddy tech?” Well, with the Tgoma platform there is an opportunity to add sensors and add some gamification to the trampoline. I haven’t added it to the trampoline yet and plan to add it in the coming months. I resisted this because my daughter loves jumping and I don’t want to ruin that with technology. Expect a review of the Tgoma system at a later date.
