As a regular runner, I’ve tried many different treadmills, but the NordicTrack Commercial 1750 is my personal favorite. This NordicTrack model offers the perfect balance between comfort, ease of use, and functionality. While it may not boast cutting-edge technology or a striking design, it offers an exceptional running experience and is packed with useful features that make it a top choice for both experienced runners and anyone looking to improve their cardio fitness.
To evaluate this treadmill’s performance, I ran approximately 150 miles on it. The Commercial 1750 has become an indispensable part of my daily routine—not only do I use it at my local gym, but it’s also available at our office in Easton, Pennsylvania (the center of Runner’s World). Despite the many other treadmills, this one always seems to garner the most attention from me and my team. From recreational joggers to marathon runners to speed athletes, everyone in our office loves the Commercial 1750.
One of the standout features of the NordicTrack Commercial 1750 is its sophisticated running surface cushioning. The 152 x 56 cm running surface is perfect for runners, offering just the right amount of responsiveness without being too soft or unstable. As our Runner-in-Chief, Jeff Dengate, puts it, the cushioning is “Goldilocks-like”—providing the perfect balance of comfort. For those of us with more miles under our belts, the added joint protection is an added bonus. It’s not the softest running surface I’ve ever tested, but compared to most treadmills, it’s definitely kinder to the knees.
The Commercial 1750 impresses with its sleek and functional design, blending seamlessly into any home gym. The Z-shaped console creates a clean look and is equipped with a 16-inch display. This allows you to comfortably operate the treadmill’s functions without having to bend forward or reach for the toe plate. The handles are positioned to avoid unnecessary distractions while running and provide sufficient support for stability without being restrictive.
The 16-inch screen, while adequate, could be a bit larger for intense workouts like movie marathons. The integrated cup holders are well-suited for regular-sized water bottles, but may not offer enough space for larger ones (e.g., Nalgene or Owala bottles). On the plus side, the 1750’s slimmer armrests still provide sufficient stability without being restrictive compared to many other treadmills. While the fans and speakers could use a bit more power, these are minor flaws compared to the overall performance of the machine.
One of the best features, in my opinion, is the EasyLift Assist system. It makes folding and storing the treadmill a breeze; thanks to a simple one-touch system, the running deck lifts and locks into place effortlessly. If you’re short on space or need to move the treadmill frequently, this feature is invaluable.
Although the NordicTrack Commercial 1750 is packed with features, there are a few minor flaws that might bother some runners. For example, the quick buttons on the touchscreen allow for easy adjustment of speed and incline, but there’s no dedicated button for speeds like 16 or 17 km/h. This is a minor drawback, especially for runners who need to make these quick adjustments for speed workouts. To achieve these speeds, you must either scroll or use the +/- buttons, which can interrupt the workout.
While interval workouts can be pre-programmed with specific time, speed, and incline settings, they still require manual adjustments for specific exercises. The treadmill accelerates relatively quickly (from 10 to 19 km/h within 8 seconds), but this may not be fast enough for competitive sprinters who rely on ultra-fast transitions. While most runners will find the 1750’s performance more than adequate, it may be insufficient for runners who need faster speed changes for sprints.
A standout feature of the Commercial 1750 is its iFIT integration. If you’re serious about running, I highly recommend an iFit subscription to unlock this treadmill’s full potential. With the subscription, you get access to an extensive library of trainer-led workouts, automatic adjustments based on terrain, and insightful metrics to track your progress. These programs not only make your workouts more engaging but also motivate you to improve.
The real-time feedback and professional coaching from iFIT trainers provide a personalized experience that’s incredibly valuable. Whether you want to improve your endurance or simply get your cardio workout in, the different difficulty levels are also a plus, as they allow you to choose the intensity that suits your mood or training goals.
The NordicTrack Commercial 1750 is powered by a 4.25 HP motor, which provides ample power for most runners. While the motor delivers solid performance, it tends to get loud, especially at higher speeds and steeper inclines. While no treadmill is completely silent, the Commercial 1750’s noise level is acceptable for occasional use and walking. However, serious runners or anyone who needs a whisper-quiet treadmill may want to consider another option.
After regularly using the NordicTrack Commercial 1750, I can confidently say it’s one of the best investments for your home gym, especially for runners. The machine offers excellent cushioning, solid performance, and numerous features that make every run a pleasure. The iFIT integration, in particular, contributes to the overall experience and keeps you motivated and committed to your fitness program.
Nevertheless, there are some areas where improvement is possible. The lack of quick speed buttons for 16 and 17 km/h, as well as the limited entertainment options, could be a barrier to purchase for some. However, these drawbacks are minor compared to the treadmill’s overall quality and reliability.
If you’re looking for a durable, well-made treadmill that combines performance with ease of use, the NordicTrack Commercial 1750 should be at the top of your list. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced marathon runner, this treadmill has everything you need to take your running training to the next level.
