Our team has tested over a dozen Harry & David products in nearly every category, including long-sellers and seasonal items. We evaluated each gift based on delivery experience, packaging, quality, and taste. These gifts are undeniably expensive, so we also place great importance on price.
This is the crème de la crème of Harry & David, and we mean it when we say there’s a food hamper for every occasion. Going to a farewell party? Send them off in style with a selection of meats, cheeses, and snacks. Celebrating an engagement or housewarming? Don’t forget the wine! The brand also offers plenty of pick-me-ups for more celebratory occasions that call for a sympathy hamper.
One of our favorites is the giant chocolate box with wine. This candy behemoth offers a little bit of everything, including Moose Munch popcorn, chocolate cake, candy galore, and a bottle of red wine.
“The box of chocolates and wine was very carefully packaged—some of the best packaging I’ve ever seen when it comes to keeping the items safe and intact,” says shopping editor. “The contents seem a bit smaller in reality than in the online pictures, but there’s a good selection of chocolates.”
Luckily, the flavors we tested—milk chocolate, dark chocolate, and classic caramel—are available year-round in a cheerful Moose Munch Trio gift box.
The pears that started it all! Harry & David are known for their royal pears. Different varieties are available depending on the season, but the most famous is the Royal Riviera variety, available during the Christmas season.
In addition to pears, you’ll also find numerous other fruit gift baskets and monthly fruit subscriptions. Shopping editor Emily Way tested the Fruit and Cheese Club and was impressed by the variety.
“My March delivery included six giant HoneyBells and a 225g piece of Cheddar Gruyère from Wood River Creamery,” says one of the happy customers. “As someone who’s notoriously picky about oranges, I was very impressed with the quality of the products. The HoneyBell citrus fruits were large, juicy, and just the right sweetness. The Cheddar Gruyère was creamy and offered a pleasant sharpness, which contrasted nicely with the mild flavor of the HoneyBells.”
Harry & David’s parent company is 1-800 Flowers, so I had high expectations when I tested the Bulb of the Month Club.
I received April’s tulip and hyacinth garden. It literally arrived as a pot full of soil. But after watering and a few days in a sunny spot, shoots began to sprout. With a little care, this arrangement came alive (instead of wilting and rotting like fresh flowers). And when the blooms are ripe, I can plant them in my garden and enjoy them next year.

It should come as no surprise that Harry & David also offers delicious baked goods. After all, its sister company, Cheryl’s Cookies, is an editor favorite.
Her favorite cake? The lemon poppy seed cake. “Simply beautiful! The cake was flawless, and the icing still looked great even after shipping. The poppy seeds were evenly distributed. Simply delicious.”
Does Harry & David make good wine?
In our experience, yes! Mary tried the Royal Crest Red Cuvée 2020 while testing the chocolate box. “It’s a versatile crowd-pleaser,” she says. “It pairs well with many foods, especially hearty dishes and meat.” While it’s not the most expensive bottle, it’s comparable (if not better) to what you’d find in the supermarket.
